I’ve recently started printing and filing things I want to save -- significant blog posts, Substack and Medium essays that have never existed on paper, poems. I don’t know who cares, but I’d like to think a few of the things we’ve made will outlast me and you and all of us.
Oh nice! In all likelihood, the printouts will last longer than Medium, Substack, etc.
In high school I kept an electronic diary on a 3 1/2" floppy disk. At some point I printed it out and glued it into a notebook. The disk is long gone, but I found the notebook a two decades ago, and decided that it needed to be burned. That was satisfying, far more than shredding a plastic disk.
